Newark Elite Fire, a U-12 girls team defeated the West Coast Wrath out of Livermore by the score of 1-0 to capture their second State Cup Championship in  three years in Woodland, CA.

It was the 3rd consecutive shutout for Fire in as many games.  Fire have gone 210 minutes without conceding a goal.  Angelique Valenzuela’s goal off of a Sam Ocegueda’s pass mid-way through the first half was all that was needed for the Fire victory.   Goal Keeper Lissette Mason, made several outstanding saves throughout the game to preserve the victory.  Like the quarter final and semi-final games, this game was a total team victory.  Each player demonstrated their commitment to the team, by playing their hearts out.

Defenders Ocegueda, Sara Buffey, Elizabeth Salazar, Trinity Castillo, and Marissa Ferreira help ensure the shutout.  While midfielders Maxine Napal, Rachel Bruckner, Hannah Gamez, Princess Fa’I, Bri Motta, Isabella Alvarellos, and Isabella Garcia all played outstanding to keep the pressure on the West Coast Defense, as well as helping to defend and preserve the victory.  Bruckner had a nice shot that the keeper saved, while Alvarellos just narrowly missed making the score 2-0.    Forwards, Angelique Valenzuela, Ashley Reyes, and Natalia Sanchez were also key in the victory by creating constant scoring threats.

In the end, it was a  total “Fire” effort to bring home the trophy
