RECREATIONAL

Overiview

Our Recreational Program is intended for players that are interested in recreational soccer. Our recreational program accepts players from the ages of 4 years old through 18 years old.

Registration begins in January and closes at the beginning of March. Late registration is allowed, but a fee will be assessed. Recreational games will typically begin in August and end in mid-November.

Recreational teams are affiliated with CYSA and play in a Recreational league consisting of teams from Newark. Older age groups sometimes play against neighboring clubs. In the Recreational League, games have referees, wins and losses are recorded and standings are kept. At the end of the regular season, there is a recreational interleague tournament for the U8 age group. U10, U12 U14, U16 and U18 age brackets will be offered a chance to play in a tournament, which features the 1st place finishers from their respective age group

Team Formation

The Recreational League forms equally skilled and balanced teams based upon gender and in the following age groups (based upon the official US Club age chart which can be located at: http://www.usclubsoccer.org). These groups can be modified at the sole discretion of Newark Soccer Club.

Teams typically will practice 2-3 days a week. Practice sessions will last between 1-2 hrs. However it is solely at the discretion of each coach to the amount of days and length of their team practice. Teams will practice at either the Newark Sports Fields (Silliman Center) or at one of the public City parks. Space and availability is at a first come first serve basis.

Rules of the Game

Games shall be governed by the established FIFA regulations with the following exceptions:

Playing Time

All players will play in every game. All players will play an even amount of time. However, playing time can be decreased by the coach at his or her discretion based upon the players practice attendance, and for disciplinary reasons.
